- Drop fade — the fade line curves down behind the ear instead of running straight. Follows the head shape and suits anyone with a rounder crown.
- Burst fade — fades out in an arc around the ear only, leaving weight at the back. Pairs with a mullet or a longer top.
- Mid and high fades — where the fade line starts on the head. The higher the start, the more dramatic the contrast with the top.
